Héctor Escandell (Ibiza, 1978) is a filmmaker with twenty-five years of experience. He has written and directed twelve short films and two feature films, screened at a hundred festivals around the world—Sitges, Cannes Court Métrage, Moscow Film Festival... In 2018, he shot his first feature film, "The Crimes of All Hallows' Day", which was released in theaters and acquired by TV channels (DARK, IB3) and platforms (Amazon Prime Video, FlixOlé). His second feature film, "The Giant of Es Vedra and other Fairy Tales" (2023), brings the tales of Ibizan oral tradition to the big screen. Premiered in Sitges in 2023, it also screened in Fargo and Minsk, and in November 2024, it was released in theaters and screened at the Spanish Film Academy, of which Escandell has been a member since 2019.

Director, actor and screenwriter, born in Palma de Mallorca in 1983. Member of the Spanish Film Academy. He studied cinema in Barcelona and began his film career in several films as an actor. In 2011, he was nominated for the Gaudí Awards of the Catalan Film Academy for best supporting actor. As a screenwriter, he has written several short films, music videos and the feature films "Carta del Miedo", sold to an Italian production company in 2014 and "D.E.P". As a director, he has directed several award-winning music videos and short films: "A look to the past" (2016) "Hiperion" (2018), "La leyenda de Oriol" (2020), among others. He is currently adapting Maira Varea's novel "El último rayo de luz" for series, preparing two short films and seeking financing for the feature film "D.E.P".

I wanted to be a war correspondent, but something drew me to film directing, and I later realized it was another way to approach the stories that mattered to me. Working in film has allowed me to travel, immerse myself in diverse cultures, and learn to see from different perspectives. I am a screenwriter and director, a member of the Spanish Film Academy, and I combined my studies in Barcelona, Madrid, and New York with work on film sets alongside directors such as Carlos Saura, with whom I was second assistant director. I lived in New York, where I directed some of my most personal projects. Photography is also one of my passions. I approach each project with a curious and open mindset, always seeking new ways to tell stories and explore the boundaries of cinematic language.
